That was only the end of the beginning... Every day, there seems to be another empty space to fill, and that we did. We added:
- a park bench
- more flowers for the Rock garden
- more flowers for the Wildflower garden
- another rosebush for the path
- birdbath
- Ivy and Clematis for trellises in the Rose Garden and the Lover's Nook
Over the past week, the garden has become more defined:
1. The path
2. The Wildflower row
3. The Rock garden
4. Lover's Nook
5. Rose garden
6. Herb garden
7. Vegetable Garden
Yet another freakish storm made its way into our neighborhood right after we finished on Day 7. Our adolescent charge was meandering back home on a Coldstone Creamery ice cream run with her friend when all of a sudden the helicopter pods and a million other tree pods kicked up into spiral formations all around the yard. I was faced with the life or death choice of saving my garden or saving my sister, and after several minutes of internal battle I decided to jump into the car and save her soul. Luckily the storm passed with only minor hail and scattered seeds.

Wildflower row:
We bought another bleeding heart, stunning spiky white wildflower - black cohosh that will grow 4'-7', and a columbine at Savory's Gardens, http://www.savorysgardens/.

Of course, another bleeding heart - this one healthier looking than the one at Bachmans.

Morden Sunrise shrub rose - releases a unique crisp citrus scent.

More whimsy in the Rock garden.

The birdbath is nestled in the heart of the Rose Garden.

Nothing finishes off a long hard summer day than a picnic and bbq by renowned Chef, Johann Canyon Puck.

MN Gnomes English Garden, Day 8

As if the garden wasn't enough, I decided to extend the garden along the back of the house this year to create a wild vegetable garden. German Ivy will eventually cover the phone post, to the right will be a flush of wild sunflowers, and further to the right we're growing cabbage, cucumbers, zucchini, cilantro, and some sort of thai basil variation. Next year we'll extend it out formally, with a pergola, and patio seating area in front of the path.

My sister and I enjoy the fruits of our labor after her death-defying rescue from the clutches of a hailstorm.
